Choosing

Which one should I buy first?
The Plume if you want the classic wide-bellied shape and will sometimes decant two bottles. The Wing if you mostly drink a single bottle between two people. Both are easy to clean, which matters more than it sounds.

Which shape opens a wine fastest?
The Meridian. It is a shallow bowl with a wide floor, so a closed young red is usually drinkable in about twenty minutes. The Plume and Harbour are close behind.

And slowest?
The Aurora and the Cove. Narrow necks, small surfaces, very little happening. That is what you want for an older bottle.

Do the coiled shapes actually work?
They aerate well, because the wine runs the length of the tube on the way in. They are also the hardest to clean and the hardest to store. Buy one because you like it, not because it decants better.

The glass

Is it lead crystal?
No. Everything we sell is lead-free crystal. It is harder to blow and slightly less refractive than leaded glass, and it does not put lead in contact with your wine for three hours.

Why are there no stoppers?
A stopper traps the aromatics you decanted the wine to release, and a ground joint on hand-blown glass can seize. Every piece is supplied open. A saucer covers one overnight.

Why is my decanter a slightly different size from the one in the photograph?
Because it was blown by hand. Wall thickness varies, so capacity varies by a few per cent and the height by up to a centimetre. The figures on each product page are averages.

Can I put it in the dishwasher?
No. Hand wash in warm water without detergent. The full method is on our care and materials page.

How do I get a tannin stain out?
Warm water and a teaspoon of uncooked rice, swirled. It works better than it deserves to.

Ordering and delivery

When does my order ship?
Orders placed before 14:00 Hong Kong time on a business day leave the same day; later orders go the next business day. You will get a tracking link by email.

How is glass packed?
Each piece is wrapped, suspended in a moulded insert and boxed inside a second outer carton. It is not indestructible, but it survives the journey the overwhelming majority of the time.

What does shipping cost?
Within the United States, $9.95 on orders under $300 and free above it. Everywhere else, $24.95. Full details on our shipping policy.

Will I pay customs or duty?
Possibly. Import charges are set by your own country and are not included in what you pay us.

If something goes wrong

It arrived broken.
Photograph it, including the packaging, and email info@marqorin.com within 14 days. We will send a replacement. Do not post broken glass back.

I have changed my mind.
Unused pieces can go back within 30 days in their original packaging. The refund policy has the steps.

There is a small bubble in the glass.
That is not a fault. Hand-blown glass carries occasional seeds and faint striations; we reject pieces with cracks, sharp inclusions or an untrue rim, and we do not reject pieces for a bubble.
