Aurora Decanter, 1.35 L

A teardrop body, widest low down, drawn up into a long neck that leans a few degrees off vertical and finishes in a cut angled lip. The lean is not decoration: it puts the lip over the glass before you have finished tilting, which makes a slow controlled pour easier than it sounds.

The narrow neck slows aeration, so the Aurora suits a wine you want to open gently — an older Burgundy, a Nebbiolo you do not want blown out. For a young tannic red that needs air quickly, the Plume or the Meridian will do more in less time.
