Meridian Decanter, 1.4 L
A low wide bowl with one side of the rim drawn upward and outward into a long tapering spout. The wine lies shallow across a broad floor, which is why this is the fastest-aerating shape in the range: a closed young red is usually drinkable in twenty minutes rather than an hour.
The trade-off is that it keeps working after you stop wanting it to. Do not pour a delicate older wine into the Meridian and leave it for the evening — use the Aurora, which has a narrow neck and takes its time.
