Obelisk Decanter, 1.5 L

The Obelisk is the plainest thing we make. A squared body drawn in at the shoulder, a straight neck, a cut lip. No facets, no engraving, no stopper — nothing to look at except the wine.

The flat sides give a wide surface without the sprawl of a round-bellied decanter, so it opens a young structured red in about forty minutes and still fits on a table that is already crowded. Buy it if sculptural decanters tire you. It is a poor talking point next to the Helix, which is the point.
